Stephen F. Austin Golf Club is a long-time favorite, especially for players on the west side of Houston, for its scenic setting along the Brazos River. Dont come out expecting to post a record round based on the length, as the course is set in a pecan tree farm (still harvested every fall) and is very tight. Enjoy the deer and the adjacent SFA State Park campgrounds, but be sure to make camping reservations through the Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept. during the peak camping seasons of March-June and September-October.
